The project’s main goal is to supply sanitary towels to teenage girls at schools.

According to the organisation’s founder, Karabo Maloka, the group aims to help the golden generation, people with disabilities and child-headed families in desperate need and those who have been hard hit by economic challenges.

“Some people lack access to personal care items, and that’s where our foundation comes in to help. Every person has the right to dignity. This project is also part of our aim to help our community members overcome obstacles.

“No one should have to give up their dignity because they can’t afford a basic essential. Many townships still have issues with menstruation and menstrual traditions. Many girls are not prepared or aware of menstruation in many sectors of the community, particularly in schools, and thus encounter many issues and challenges at home and school.

“Girls and women have little or no understanding of reproductive tract infections, which are caused by a lack of personal hygiene during menstruation. Women in rural areas do not have access to sanitary pads, and if they do, they cannot afford them.

“We will continue to fight for the rights of girls who do not have access to sanitary towels, particularly in these difficult times,” said Maloka.
