Light A Sparke is an NPO based in Germiston and founded by Janene Machin.
She said she believes in the ethos of paying it forward. Light A Sparke has been growing and benefitting several people in need, as it was born out of the passion for helping others.
“A few years ago my daughter started interning at Baragwanath and would tell me about prematurely born babies needing beanies to keep warm or blankets for the elderly who have no families. The needs and demands for these handmade items grew,” said Janene.
“There are so many people that want to do good deeds, but don’t know where to start or what to do. Light A Sparke has been in a sense providing healing for many.

“Some of our ladies are battling cancer, some have lost loved ones, while others are lonely and need a purpose in life and this is what we can give them,” said Janene.
She said because of the work they do, the community responded with love when it comes to donations for the KZN flood victims.
“We are so touched by the response from the community because we have been receiving so much. We are grateful, deeply touched and happy that we can help families in need in KZN. As Light the Sparke we aim to assist organisations and charities in need through our ambassador network. Making a difference, one Sparke at a time,” said Janene.
