Drug dealer in cuffs thanks to tip-off

“The police confiscated drugs and money believed to have been derived from her 'business'. Crystal Meth, Mandrax, and cocaine were recovered from the female,” said Captain Ben Matimulane, Ivory Park police spokesperson.

A suspected drug dealer was apprehended by the police on May 5.

This follows a tip-off from a member of the public who, despite their anonymity, correctly tipped the police about the female’s illegal and troublesome business operation, according to Ivory Park SAPS spokesperson Capt Ben Matimulane.

The female suspect, aged 38, had been arrested in Kaalfontein by the police with the assistance of the community in blue and the Youth Crime Prevention Desk.

“The police confiscated drugs and money believed to have been derived from her ‘business’. Crystal Meth, Mandrax, and cocaine were recovered from the female.”

Brig David Mbongeni Ngcobo, station commander of the Ivory Park SAPS, said substance abuse is at the heart of many problems experienced by the community.

“By letting us know, and the subsequent follow-up by our officers and to other stakeholders, a clear message has been sent to the criminal elements that we are coming after them,” said Ngcobo.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Thembisa Magistrate’s Court soon to face a charge of dealing drugs.
