Kempton girls fly the South African flag high
Kempton Park girls recieve national colours after representing South Africa well at the Stars of the Universe Performing Arts International cup.
Two dancers from the Solo Enertino Dance Academy took accolades from the Stars of the Universe Performing Arts International Cup competition.
Although the virtual international competition took place in January 2022, they received their certificates on April 30.
Hoërskool Jeugland's Aneche Slabbert (15) and Laerskool Van Riebeeckpark's Chantelize Lotter-MacAllister (12) performed a duo which earned them a gold certificate on the international stage.
Representing team South Africa, Slabbert and Lotter-MacAllister competed in the virtual competition that had about 700 contestants from 24 countries in 1080 categories.
Lotter-MacAllister triumphed again as she earned a silver certificate for her solo performances. She earned a certificate in the open dance category where she performed in bhangra choreography, as well as in lyrical/contemporary.
As a result of their achievements, the duo are eligible to receive their federation national colours awarded by the Federation of Performing Arts South Africa (FPASA).
Slabbert and Lotter-MacAllister are proud of their achievement as they worked hard with their coaches, including practising on weekends.
MacAllister’s grandmother, Elsa de Villiers said the two deserved their national colours.
“They have worked very hard, practising every Monday and Tuesday from 17:00 to 19:00. At times, they even practised on weekends on their own. I’m so proud of them because they have earned their national colours through hard work,” said De Villiers.
