Women’s group feed the homeless

TWR Women of Hope South Africa fed 96 people on World Africa Day.

Trans World Radio Women of Hope South Africa fed 96 people on May 25.

Liza Nel, coordinator for the non-profit organisation, said they passed through numerous places in the Kempton Park CBD to hand out food.

“These people live on the streets of the CBD. They don’t have an income and no homes.”

The beneficiaries were served near the police station on Margaret Street.

“We feed the homeless once a month,” added Nel.

According to Nel, the initiative started in 2020 during the lockdown.

The organisation started with giving soup and bread, but now they also attempt to prepare rice and meat with vegetables.

“That way we also provide more nutrition to the underfed. We help those who lost their jobs and we hand out clothing when we receive donations,” said Nel.
