Glen Marais karatekas excel at championships

This is a prestigious event on the annual SARMAF calendar.

Five members at the Tenshinkan Glen Marais Karate Club were selected to represent Gauteng at the annual South African Ryu Kyu Martial Arts Federation (SARMAF) national championships.

The championships were held at the Harry Gwala Multi-Purpose Sports Centre, in Sasolburg, on June 3 and 4.
This is a prestigious event on the annual SARMAF calendar.

SARMAF is using a ranking system to select national/presidential development teams and the championship contributes the majority percentage of points for the athlete for team selection.

The local athletes selected are Shihan-Dai Adam Boshoff, who received a gold medal for Unison Kata and silver medals for kata and kumite, NJ van der Berg got a gold medal for kata, Logan Stone received gold medals for kata and kumite, Joshua du Plooy received a gold medal for kata and a silver medal for kumite and Ryan Hullock walked away with two gold medals for kuta and kumite.

All the above karatekas received Gauteng provincial colours from MASA and SARMAF, the national governing bodies for martial arts in South Africa.
