OR Tambo police plant seeds of hope

The men and women in blue took their boots to the gardens of the school of learners with special education needs on Mandela Day.

OR Tambo International Airport SAPS planted seeds of life at Thembinkosi LSEN School for their 67 minutes for Mandela Day on July 18.

Warrant Officer Thalitha Ngwenya said the station has worked with the school since 2019, helping with events such as Casual Day and collecting donations.

OR Tambo SAPS donated plants, vegetable seeds, groceries, sanitary towels, cleaning utensils and detergents for International Mandela Day at Thembinkosi LSEN School in Thembisa.

The men and women in blue spent the day with the learners at Thembinkosi LSEN School, donating plants, vegetables and vegetable seeds, sanitary towels, groceries, cleaning utensils and detergents.

The learners received hot soup as they listened to the station commander Brigadier Duncan Scott.

Constable Reitumetse Mokone said she enjoyed spending the day with the learners, which reminded her that it is her duty to share.

“A giving hand is a receiving hand and giving always goes a long way. The more you give with an open heart the more you make a difference in someone else’s life,” said Mokone.

The learners, teachers and principal of Thembinkosi LSEN school were overwhelmed at the donations made by OR Tambo SAPS and gave a gumboot dance presentation as an act of gratitude.
