Thembisa waste recycling project launched

The initiative seeks to redefine and evolve the waste recycling sector through data capturing, training of waste reclaimers and incentivised waste collection.

Sustainability artist Dillon Marsh has launched RE-Imagine Tomorrow, a project in Thembisa.

He partnered with Nestlé East and Southern Africa, 150 informal waste reclaimers, a local waste buy back centre, Destination Green and a technology platform, Kudoti.

The project’s waste-reclaimers collected and monitored four tons of white papers in just eight months and recycled nearly 80 tons of different plastics.
