18 injured after crash on Zuurfontein Road and Oranjerivier Drive

A child and woman were airlifted to hospital and the cause of the collision is under investigation.

Eighteen people were injured in a four-vehicle collision at Zuurfontein Road and Oranjerivier Drive intersection in Kempton Park.

ER24 and several other services arrived on the scene on August 8, shortly after 08:00 and found a truck, taxi, light motor vehicle and motorbike in the middle of the intersection. Several people were seen scattered around the vehicles.

Medics assessed the patients and found that five, including a child, were in critical condition while 13 others had sustained minor to moderate injuries.

“Paramedics treated the patients and provided the critically injured with advanced life support interventions.

“Once treated, the child and a woman were airlifted to the hospital by private medical helicopters, while the remaining patients were transported by ambulances,” Russel Meiring from ER24 said.

The cause of the collision is under investigation.
