The event was aimed at encouraging a spirit of volunteerism and nation building by recognising and celebrating the contribution of diverse individuals, groups and institutions towards the upliftment of local communities.
Mofokeng was honoured as a woman who has demonstrated courage and commitment to empower her community to sustain itself, through business ventures and related activities.
The Vita Basadi Awards are given by the Gauteng Provincial Legislature to recognise excellence in unpaid acts of community service by Gauteng women who help those around them and have a positive impact on their communities without expecting anything in return.
