Local NGOs determined to help others

The charities are seeking for community people to aid with contributions of non-perishable food, sanitary pads, toiletries and clothes.

The Mordecai Ndlovu Foundation and I am a Woman are non-profit organisations with core principles focused on the development of men, women and children in a variety of spheres, including education, sports, health, social interaction and skill development.

Due to this, both organisations decided to host the Homes United League sports tournament at Norkem Park High School on October 22.

This event will serve as a fundraiser for charity homes.

The mission of both organisations, according to founders Mordecai Ndlovu and Precious Moyo, is to assist children in other homes in realising their value.

“Children must know the community as a whole cares about them.

“We want to remind the youngsters who are less fortunate through this fundraising campaign.

“By tackling major social ills that charities experience, such as a lack of sanitary pads, hunger, poverty, and toiletries, we hope to give back to the community.

“The programme includes a mini tournament of six soccer and netball teams and they will represent six charity homes.

“The teams are made up of local sports enthusiasts who have volunteered their time and energy to assist with much-needed supplies for the charities.

“The teams will battle it out on the fields and courts to raise much-needed supplies for the homes.

“We hope to raise necessary goods for each home to receive a package filled with toiletries, sanitary pads, non-perishable foods and clothes.”
