Ekurhuleni police and members of Health and Wellness gather against GBV and cancer

Brigadier Ntombizini Thethe said the main purpose of the event was to engage with members, empower them and address challenges that they are facing in their line of work.

Members of Ekurhuleni District Detectives and Employee Health and Wellness recently gathered at Germiston Hall under the theme You Matter.

The event was aimed at raising awareness about gender-based violence and cancer.

Vosloorus Station Commander Brigadier Ntombizini Thethe, on behalf of their District Commissioner Major General Anna Sithole, shared a motivational speech with the audience.

Loate SAPS’ Sergeant Girly Mgonene, a cancer survivor, shared her story about her battle with cancer.

At the age of 41 she was diagnosed with cancer in 2016. A mastectomy was part of her battle to fight the disease.

“Another motivational speaker who encouraged members to break their silence on GBV issues was Sergeant Mpishi Ledwaba from Etwatwa SAPS.

She is a survivor of physical, emotional and psychological abuse.

Brigadier Ntombizini Thethe said the main purpose of the event was to engage with members, empower them and address challenges that they are facing in their line of work.

A candle of hope was lit and prayer against social ills followed.
