Squats for special needs
The bodybuilder dedicated squats to 126 special needs schools in Gauteng.
Ekurhuleni resident and bodybuilder Natus du Preez completed his challenge of 38 250 squats at Kempton Panorama School on December 2.
Du Preez set to dedicate a single squat for every single child in a special school in Gauteng over 30 days.
According to Natus, this challenge was inspired by the knowledge of his good friend, Anton de Klerk, who also attended a special needs school.
“At the 2021 Arnold Classic Africa, I met Anton and after battling it out on the stage that day we became friends.
“On November 10 after I did my squat dedication to Elandspark School, Anton thanked me for naming his old school.
“I never realised that this young man I look up to attend a special school. I mean he is a loving father, a caring husband, a successful businessman and a person who can give me advice. This is why I have put my body through what I have this month.
“For the thousands of ‘Antons’ that might get lost. To make them realise the stars are theirs for the taking,” said Du Preez.
Du Preez spent over 2 610 minutes (43.5 hours) in front of the squat rack hosted at various schools in Gauteng.
He even inspired a little challenge among the learners of Kempton Panorama who set a goal to do 500 squats during the grand finale.
This challenge comes as a result of the International Day of Persons with Disabilities and Disability Rights Awareness Month.
