EMPD enforce by-laws among informal traders

The EMPD By-Law Unit targeted illegal street traders for non-compliance and businesses displaying their merchandise (causing an obstruction) on sidewalks on February 13.

According to EMPD spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, 56 infringement notices were issued in and around Thembisa to traders who violated the municipal by-laws.

“In Maokeng section, the owner of a shop with a permanent structure was charged and instructed to remove the illegal structure.

“We aim to work continuously on cleaning the streets of the City of Ekurhuleni, ensuring all businesses comply with the rules and regulations of the municipality,” said Thepa.
