Okae Molao Operation hits Putfontein

Four were arrested for fraud and two for possession of stolen motor vehicles.

A total of 43 people were detained on February 9 in the Putfontein policing precinct as a result of an Okae Molao operation.

Of these, 27 were arrested for entering the country illegally, 14 were on the wanted list and two people had Mandrax and crystal meth.

Three unlawful taverns were shut down and alcohol was also seized.

The most recent arrests bring the total number of those taken into custody to 170 since the commencement of the district-wide Okae Molao operation on February 8.

Of the arrests, 14 were for rape and 32 for gender-based-related assaults.

Four were arrested for fraud and two for possession of stolen motor vehicles.

Four others were arrested for kidnapping and 20 for malicious property damage.

According to Major General Anna Sithole, the district commissioner for Ekurhuleni, the EMPD seized equipment from a panel-beating workshop after they disregarded a warning and refused to pay a fine.

“The items confiscated were gas tanks, a compressor set and a welding machine valued at R19 000,” she said.

Sithole who was part of the operation thanked the officers for their commitment to rooting out crime and criminality in Ekurhuleni.
