City enforces its by-laws in Kempton Park

The operation was aimed at addressing unlawful acts committed by residents of the area.

The City of Ekurhuleni conducted a multi-disciplinary operation in Kempton Park on February 10.

The operation was aimed at addressing unlawful acts committed by residents of the area.

Employees from the Department of Environmental Affairs worked to clean up during the blitz.

On the day the main focus area for the operation was West Street and Pretoria Road where departments searched for those contravening the city’s by-laws.

Targeting shopping outlets, officials from the Department of Economic Development sprung into action.

The Department of Health inspected health and safety precautions at businesses as well as food handling protocols.

The officials from the city also planned to hit businesses that owed money to the municipality and those which had defaulted on their water and electricity payments.

The Department of Home Affairs joined in the operation and assisted officials in their search for undocumented foreign nationals living in Kempton Park.

Officers from the EMPD issued fines to those contravening the city’s by-laws and arrested those in possession of drugs.

The Home Affairs Immigration Unit were on hand to inspect passports and permits.
