Gauteng MEC hosts post-SOPA activities in Tembisa

They patched potholes, did grass-cutting, and repainted road markings, among others.

As part of the Post-State of the Province Address activities, the Gauteng MEC for Transport and Logistics, Kedibone Diale-Tlabela, unpacked commitments made by Premier Panyaza Lesufi at a public meeting held at Ehlanzeni Sports Ground on February 24.

In his State of the Province Address, Lesufi stated that “The Gauteng government will now take over the leading role in ensuring that tarring dusty streets in the townships is a priority.”

The MEC further outlined the departmental 2023/24 plans, priorities and programmes in line with the premier’s commitments.

Diale-Tlabela made sure the department lived up to the premier’s promises.

The department’s road maintenance team has undertaken road maintenance activities at Umthambeka Section, Vusimuzi and Ehlanzeni.

Diale-Tlabela stated that the Gauteng provincial government would prioritise development in townships, informal settlements and hostels.

“The goal is to improve the community for its people and make sure that those who live there are content with their surroundings,” she said.
