The third-year students both live around the Kempton Park region and are coming from The Tshwane University of Technology Department of Journalism.

The 24-year-old Ayanda said her passion was in hearing people’s stories and telling them to the community.

“I know that as a journalist, our work carries a lot of impact and in many ways facilitates the inception of the concept called ‘community’.

“As much as I am here to learn, I also want the community to know that I am here to serve them and the interest of the public at large,” she said.

Masemola is also excited to begin his career with Caxton.

He said the reason he chose journalism as a profession was to keep the community informed.

“Knowledge is power, that is why the community deserves to be in the know-how of what is happening around them. That is why I decided to be the voice of the voiceless,” he said.
