Repairs to industrial water pump lead to discovery of human skull

The pump had been transported from a Carletonville mine to a Spartan company for repairs prior to the discovery.

An enquiry was opened by Sebenza SAPS after a human skull was found at a Spartan business earlier today.

According to Sebenza Police Station’s spokesperson Sergeant Sharon Tsotsotso the skull was found at 13:00 on March 15.

It was discovered inside an industrial water pump.

Tsotstso said the pump was brought to the company, to be repaired and had been transported from a mine in Carletonville.

“We have called Carletonville SAPS to determine if they have any missing person cases that may be related to this case.

“We are currently waiting for them to provide us with more information,” said Tsotsotso.

She said although no obvious injuries could be seen on the skull, police were waiting for forensics to provide more information about cause of death.
