National Shutdown: Mayor visits Kempton Park, calm restored to CBD

The executive mayor for the City of Ekurhuleni, Ald Tania Campbell visited Kempton Park this afternoon and said the situation was continually being monitored.

“The EMPD has been deployed since two days ago. We have not seen much violence and we are protecting all council facilities

“Myself and the MMC are going around to various parts of Ekurhuleni to see how things are being managed by the EMPD,” Campbell said.

She added that 13 arrests were reported to her office.

“We will not have our residents or any of our infrastructure put at risk.”

“It is my duty as the mayor to make sure everything is peaceful in the city,” she said.
