New cable to stabilise Kempton power supply
The network upgrade will bring stability to one of the critical components of Kempton Park’s electricity networks.

The City of Ekurhuleni has responded to frequent power outages in Kempton Park by installing a new and reliable cable.
The cable which was unveiled this morning is part of the Kempton Park electricity network upgrade project.
Part of the project is the replacement of the old, oil-based cables which had become a power outage nightmare in the area of Kempton Park and surrounding areas.
The cable being replaced was installed in the 1970s and had become difficult and expensive to maintain, with spare material becoming scarce to find thus resulting in prolonged outages.

“We have installed the latest technology. Today we are able to say to our residents, we now have a stable supply of power to areas that were constantly having challenges with electricity supply.
“With this technology, the City will be able to detect faults and deal with them timeously as and when they arise,” he said.
He added that the project would be completed in five stages.
