Elderly man collapses at local police station and dies

The paramedics declared him dead and stated that it was natural death.

A 65-year-old man died at the Rabie Ridge Police Station on March 30.

“The man was walking with his wife and their son, who was going to take a firearm competency test, from Phomolong to the Rabie Ridge SAPS when disaster struck,” said Sergeant Jacob Nhlongo of the Rabie Ridge SAPS.

“As they drew near Mayibuye section, the elderly man informed them that he did not feel well, so they agreed that he should take a taxi to the police station and wait for them there since they would be walking.

“When they arrived, the family asked the elderly man waiting at the police station’s gate how he felt, and he responded that he was better.

“They went inside the police station while the man sat under a tree.

“While still speaking to him, the man fell over, and paramedics were called. He was declared dead at the scene, and his death was verified as natural,” said Nhlongo.
