Although most indigenous trees on Melville Koppies don’t turn the beautiful autumn oranges and reds of liquid ambers or plane trees, the quartzite rocks and wild grasses give the Koppies its own autumn tinge.

And if you climb to the top of the ridges, you’ll see the trees of Joburg’s man-made forest showing their autumn colours.

It’s the perfect temperature for hiking.

The Koppies are open Sunday mornings between 08:00 and 11:30.
