Two men shot and killed at Endulwini section

Two men were shot and killed in Endulwini Section on April 4.

According to Sargeant Phendulwa Skoti, spokesperson for Olifantsfontein SAPS, the victims were driving in a white Audi A4 when they were shot multiple times allegedly by occupants of a black BMW X3.

The suspects in the BMW fled the scene and the driver of the Audi lost control of his vehicle.

The suspects were close to a school at the time of the shooting.

The Audi collided with the sidewalk and crashed into an informal business and a streetlight pole landing in an uprigth position.

“Several bullet holes on the left side of the Audi can be seen,” said Skoti.

“It is unknown whether the victims were dead or alive at the time of the crash. Cartridges for a 9mm pistol and AK47 rifle were discovered on the scene.”

The deceased were identified on scene by a relative as well as a friend.

“The sibling of one of the victims said his brother owns taxis that run between the Eastern Cape in Qumbu and Esangweni in Thembisa as well as between Johannesburg, Durban, and Cape Town.”

Emergency services, SAPS and EMPD responded to the scene.

The brother of one of the deceased told police that his relative arrived in Johannesburg on May 2.

“Prior to the accident, according to the brother, the deceased dropped his BMW off with a friend to be fixed at the panel beaters in Endulwini Section. Later, the mechanic requested the owner to pay the panel beater for the vehicle to be fixed.”

After the vehicle was dislodged at the crash site, police officers found that both men had sustained fatal gunshot wounds during the shootout.

Skoti said the deceased and his friend then left the panel beater in the Audi to withdraw the money needed for repairs.

“The shootout occurred when the two returned to the panel beaters.”

DEMS and EMPD teams work to dislodge the vehicle following the crash.

The reason behind the shooting is still unknown and will form part of a police investigation.

It was later discovered that the Audi was a rental and it was taken to the Aeroton vehicle pound.

Both deceased were transported to Germiston Mortuary.

The Audi collided with the sidewalk and crashed into an informal business and a streetlight pole landing vertically.
