Pedestrian killed in a hit-and-run in Phomolong

The case of murder has been opened at SAPS Thembisa South. No arrests have been made although the investigation is underway.

A minibus taxi struck a pedestrian down in Phomolong.

EMPD Thembisa Precinct officers responded to the scene of a hit-and-run on June 28.

According to EMPD media liaison officer Marie Mashishi, when arriving on the scene, the officers found a 22-year-old man lying in the road.

Upon inquiring about the driver’s whereabouts, they learned he fled the area.

“The paramedics declared the man was as dead.

“The deceased was crossing the street from Phomolong toward the bus stop when a white minibus taxi allegedly struck the pedestrian and fled the scene.

“The police opened a case of murder at the Thembisa South Police Station. Investigations are underway,” said Mashishi.
