Norkem Park ATM bombing: Cashiers heard three explosions

It is believed 13 suspects using two vehicles bombed the ATM before making off with an undisclosed amount of money.

Early this morning (March 6) an ATM was bombed at a petrol station on Kwartel Street in Norkem Park.

According to Norkem Park SAPS, spokesperson W/O Barbara-Anne Ferreira, moments before the bombing, three cashiers working at the filling station noticed a man wearing a balaclava.

“It is believed that there were approximately 13 suspects using two vehicles; a white Nissan NP 300 bakkie and a blue BMW.”

“The cashier’s hide themselves in the cashier cage before three loud bangs were heard,” said Ferreira.

Ferreira said that officers were called to the scene to investigate.

“The suspects made off with a safe containing an enclosed amount of money.”

No injuries were reported.

“The matter will be investigated by detectives from the Norkem Park SAPS.”
