Township golfing spectacle takes centre stage in Thembisa
The Thembisa Golf Club switched venues to ensure participants had a great experience of the sport.
The 2024 Township Golfing Major hosted by the Thembisa Golf Club at the challenging Kempton Park Country Club was unforgettable.
Last year’s champions, Reuben Motsomotso (A division) and Nozuko Jakavula, found themselves unable to keep pace with this year’s heightened competition on the demanding course.
A hallmark of the event was the generous sponsorship that included two whole lamb carcasses for each division.

Demonstrating commitment, Sifiso Motsa, a steadfast supporter of the club, provided trophies for the winners of both divisions and a coveted Red Jacket for the senior division A victor.
Thulani Nodagala emerged as the event’s star, showcasing remarkable skills to win division A.
His stellar performance earned him a net score of 68, securing the division’s trophy, the Red Jacket, and a whole lamb carcass.
In division B, Kenny Makgolo continued his impressive form, firing a net 42 and leaving no room for competition when he claimed the division’s top prize.
Before the event started, Motsa reassured the club’s executive committee of his return in 2025, adding to the anticipation for next year’s tournament.
In addition to the main prizes, 15 golfers walked away with substantial portions of meat, enough to last up to two months.

“The standard of the game has improved, and while we deeply value Sifiso Motsa’s contributions, we are equally proud of our talented golfers from Thembisa.
“We look forward to welcoming everyone again next year,” said Benjamin Monyanyedi of the Thembisa Golf Club.
