Weekend of successes for flying squad

In further policing, three abandoned hijacked vehicles were recovered

Members of the Benoni Flying Squad members arrested five suspects and recovered three motor vehicles and one motorcycle between December 8 and December 10.
On December 8, officers followed up on information of unlicensed ammunition at a residence in Swazi Street, Daveyton.
One suspect was arrested when members recovered 23 live rounds of ammunition and no license could be produced.

On December 10 at around noon, officers received a tip-off that community cameras had picked up a white Isuzu bakkie in the Boksburg area wanted for an attempted housebreaking case in Boksburg North during November.
The vehicle was traced and pulled over on North Rand Road where two suspects were arrested.
On the same day at around 4 pm members heard a radio call from colleagues needing backup in a chase of a suspicious vehicle, a white Hyundai Tucson.

Officers rushed to the scene where they confronted the vehicle with two occupants at corners M57 and R562, Olifantsfontein.
During a thorough search, the officers found four sets of number plates, two bolt cutters, numerous tools and implements for breaking into vehicles, a Toyota computer box and a smart Toyota key maker inside the vehicle.
The Tucson had false registration plates.
Both suspects were arrested and the vehicle was impounded.
In further policing operations, three abandoned hijacked vehicles were recovered.

This concluded a white Kia K2700, found next to the stadium in Extension 2, Ivory Park and reported on a Rabie Ridge case, a blue Opel Corsa at Rainbow Avenue, Benoni, reported on a Bronhorstspruit case and a white Fuso truck at Spartan Road, Kempton Park, reported on a Vereeniging case.
A white Sym 125cc scooter was also recovered in Springs, reported stolen in a Springs case.
Investigations will continue on all cases.
The suspects will appear in local magistrate’s courts, facing charges of possession of unlicensed ammunition and attempted housebreaking.
