Flying Squad and others arrest 95 for various crimes

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.

Between March 24 and 30, rapid response services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 95 suspects, recovered 46 motor vehicles and five firearms.

Officers participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 77 arrests for serious crimes including assault GBH, murder, armed robbery, bribery, domestic violence, common robbery, house burglary, illegal immigrants and malicious damage to property.

A further 46 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with five arrests for the possession of these vehicles. Five unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying six arrests.

In further policing eight arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs. Heroine, dagga and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.

The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
