Kempton taxi driver shot and killed

The taxi driver from the Kempton Park Taxi Association (KPTA) sustained two fatal gunshot wounds.

A case of murder was opened after Thembisa police officers responded to a shooting in Winnie Mandela Zone Two on April 25.

According to the cluster communications officer, Warrant Officer Barbara-Anne Ferreira, a taxi driver from the Kempton Park Taxi Association (KPTA) sustained two fatal gunshot wounds.

“An eyewitness told officers three vehicles with stickers drove past the taxi at a pickup point.

“Three suspects approached the victim and escorted him to the sidewalk before two gunshots were heard,” Ferreira said.

The victim was declared dead at the scene. The motive behind the shooting will form part of a police investigation.
