Suspect killed, another injured in Kempton Park robbery
While on the scene, a complainant arrived and said she was robbed off her cellphone by the same suspects earlier.
One suspect was killed, one injured and a third arrested following an armed robbery in Kempton Park on Saturday.

At around 13:00, officers from the EMPD Specialised Task Team noticed a white VW Polo driving recklessly along Voortrekker Road in Kempton Park.
The vehicle had no rear number plates.
According to EMPD spokesperson, Lieutenant Colonel Kelebogile Thepa, the men in the VW opened fire when the officers gave chase in the Kempton Park CBD.
The officers retaliated. The driver of the VW lost control of the vehicle and crashed at the intersection of Spitfire and Catalina roads in Rhodesfield.

One suspect was killed, while a second was taken to hospital under police guard in a serious condition. The officers arrested the third suspect who was not injured.
“Two firearms were recovered on the scene. Further investigation will reveal whether the firearms have been used in the commission of other offences,” said Thepa.
“While on the scene, a complainant arrived, reporting the same suspects earlier robbed her of her cellphone.
“Two cellphones were also recovered from the scene. One was identified as that of the complainant.”

Cases of armed robbery, possession of unlicensed firearms and reckless and negligent driving were registered at the Kempton Park Police Station.
“The prospect of additional charges is not ruled out,” said Thepa.
