Man allegedly dies at the hands of mob justice in Thembisa
According to the information received, when the police arrived, the deceased’s body was still on fire and firefighting teams were called to extinguish the flames.
Acts of violence remain a concern for the Thembisa SAPS.
On March 25, Thembisa sector teams received a complaint that a mob justice incident had occurred at Madelakufa.
An unknown man was allegedly beaten and burnt to death by a mob from the Madelakufa informal settlement.

According to the information, when the police arrived, the deceased’s body was still on fire and firefighting teams were called to extinguish the flames.

Police officers tried to get information from bystanders, but no one was willing to come forward.
Brigadier Cyril Nkuna of the Thembisa Police Station strongly denounced this vigilantism and urged the community to refrain from taking the law into their own hands because it could incriminate them.
“In almost all scenes of mob justice, the victim is found without the alleged stolen properties.
“This does not help the police during their investigation but is seen as a setback because people are murdered without any cases being solved due to little evidence.”
Investigations continue into the case.
