Ekurhuleni Water Police recover man’s body after drowning

Allegedly a 27-year-old man was seen dancing and chanting while walking into the dam. The man went under the water and was not seen again.

Divers from the Ekurhuleni Water Policing and Diving Services were deployed to a dam on a farm in Holgatfontein, Nigel on September 4.

A diver was deployed following witnesses identifying an area and the keen nose of a K9 Search and Rescue dog, Canna, confirming the location.

Within 15 minutes of dive time, the body of the victim was recovered at a depth of around 2.6m.

The body was handed to members of Nigel SAPS for further investigation.
