Police units arrest 123 suspects and recover vehicles, firearms
Rapid Response services arrested 123 suspects for various crimes such as armed robbery, fraud and murder.
Between November 1 and November 7, Rapid Response Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 123 suspects, recovering 38 motor vehicles and nine firearms.
Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng.
These operations led to 54 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, armed robbery, fraud, theft, possession of suspected stolen property, house-break-in, intimidation, tampering with essential infrastructure, business burglary, murder, pointing of a firearm, malicious damage to property, kidnapping, contravention of a protection order, possession of unlicensed ammunition, possession of counterfeit goods, illegal immigrant and possession of house-break-in implements.

A total of 38 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with nine arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Nine unlicensed firearms were recovered accompanying six arrests.
In further policing, 54 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.
Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
Investigation continues in these cases.
The suspects will be appearing in the local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
