Woman critical after partner stabs her multiple times

According to police, the suspect, a 30-year-old man, allegedly attacked the woman with an “Okapi” knife following an argument.

A 26-year-old woman is in critical condition after she was stabbed multiple times by her live-in partner.

The incident occurred in Kempton Park on Tuesday afternoon, January 2 outside the couple’s residence on Park Street.

According to police, the suspect, a 30-year-old man, allegedly attacked the woman with an “Okapi” knife following an argument.

Ekurhuleni Metro Police Department (EMPD) officers responded swiftly after receiving reports of the attack, which had also been shared on social media platforms through graphic images.

Members of the community intervened during the attack, restraining the suspect before police arrived.

The suspect was arrested on the scene and faces charges of attempted murder.

The victim was rushed to Thembisa Tertiary Hospital, where she remains in critical condition.

Police investigations are ongoing.
