104 offenders nabbed during SAPS operations

Police recovered 52 hijacked and stolen vehicles, with 12 arrests for possessing them, and recovered 18 unlicensed firearms.

The Rapid Response Services, comprising the Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 104 people and recovered 52 vehicles and 18 firearms between January 24 and 30.

The officers did various concentrated operations, vehicle checkpoints, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, leading 52 arrests for serious crimes, including assault common and GBH, possession of suspected stolen property, carjacking, contravening a protection order, theft, domestic violence, fraud, driving under the influence of alcohol, business robbery, extortion, common robbery, possession of unlicensed ammunition, murder and armed robbery.

They recovered 52 hijacked and stolen vehicles, with 12 arrests for possessing them, and recovered 18 unlicensed firearms, accompanying eight arrests.

In further policing, officers arrested 45 people for the possession of and dealing drugs, confiscating heroin, dagga, cocaine, Mandrax and crystal meth in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues into all cases.

The suspects will appear in local magistrate’s courts across Gauteng.
