The family of Elizabeth ‘Tsontso’ Moselakgomo is appealing to the public to refrain from sharing unverified information about her whereabouts while they await the formal identification of a woman’s body found in Rhodesfield.

Moselakgomo, a routine jogger, was last seen leaving her residence in the Rhodesfield area on September 9.

She did not return home, prompting her family to report her missing at Kempton Park Police Station.

According to family spokesperson Dawn Gouden of Renegade Search and Rescue, an unidentified female body was found in the vicinity of York Street, Rhodesfield, on Saturday evening, September 12.

“Due to the injuries sustained and the late hour, family members were unable to identify the body,” said Gouden.

The body was subsequently taken to a state mortuary, where the family is expected to go on Monday, September 14, to formally identify it.

Gouden said the family was aware of information and speculation circulating among community members and appealed to people to wait for confirmed information.

“We humbly ask that the public refrain from sharing any unverified or unconfirmed information,” said Gouden.

“The family will only be able to visit the mortuary tomorrow and, until then, we ask everyone to please respect the family’s privacy and allow the proper identification process to take place.”

The family also expressed gratitude to everyone who supported the search for Moselakgomo, including the SAPS, community members who assisted with searches and flyers, and all who rallied around them during this trying time.
