"The matter can be placed on the roll for trial, and I will argue that this is not premeditated," said Lewete.

The murder case against former Kempton Park hairdresser Denise Hattingh resumed in the Kempton Park Regional Court this morning, March 27.
The matter was postponed to April 17 for the submission of admissions.
Hattingh’s defence lawyer, Obed Lewete, stated in court that he had instructions to lodge representations with the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP).

“The matter can be placed on the roll for trial, and I will argue that this is not premeditated,” he said.
Lewete also confirmed that the defence does not require assessors in the matter and noted that Hattingh was unwell.
During her last court appearance on March 4, Hattingh’s defence submitted representations requesting that she be charged under the minimum sentence of 15 years instead of life imprisonment, as sought by the State.
These representations were made to the DPP, and both the defence and prosecution are awaiting a decision.
