EMPD busts driver for reckless and negligent driving

EMPD officers arrested a driver endangering lives by reckless driving, including running red lights and dangerous overtaking. Despite his claim of rushing to a funeral, he couldn’t produce a licence or permit.

The EMPD North Task Team arrested a 38-year-old man in Kempton Park for reckless and negligent driving.

During patrol, officers observed a white Toyota Quantum on Pretoria Road overtaking on a solid line, running red lights and putting traffic at risk.

After giving chase, officers stopped the minibus. When asked why he was driving recklessly, the driver said he was late collecting funeral attendees.

He was unable to produce his driver’s licence and Professional Driving Permit when asked.

He was arrested, detained at the Kempton Park Police Station and charged with reckless and negligent driving. His court appearance at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court is imminent.
