Suspect arrested for possession of stolen property in the Kempton Park

Found with the victim’s stolen cellphone, he faces charges of possession of stolen property at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court.

EMPD North Task Team officers arrested a suspect (33) for possession of stolen property in Kempton Park on May 31.

According to City of Ekurhuleni spokesperson Zweli Dlamini, officers were conducting crime prevention duties when they received information about a robbery at a garage on Kelvin Street.

On arrival at the scene, officers found two men. One of them identified himself as the victim and reported that two suspects had robbed him of his cellphone. He added that one of the suspects fled the scene with a firearm.

The remaining suspect was found in possession of the victim’s cellphone.

He was arrested and detained at the Kempton Park Police Station. A case of possession of stolen property was registered.

The suspect is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
