EMPD recovers stolen taxi in Thembisa

Acting on a tip-off from a vehicle tracking company during routine patrols, officers located the abandoned vehicle at a local liquor store. The Quantum has been taken to the Aeroton Pound for processing.

Officers from the EMPD Intervention Unit recovered a stolen white Toyota Quantum in Thembisa on June 10.

While conducting routine crime prevention patrols in the Lekaneng Section, officers received a tip-off from a vehicle tracking company regarding the stolen minibus taxi.

Acting swiftly, the officers traced the vehicle’s location using the tracking coordinates provided.

The signal led them to a local liquor store, where the abandoned vehicle was discovered parked in the yard.

All relevant role players were summoned to the scene for further investigation. The recovered vehicle was later taken to the Aeroton Pound for safekeeping and processing.
