EMPD Equestrian Unit arrests suspect in Kempton Park

The driver, a Congolese national, was unable to produce a valid passport or any form of identification when requested by officers.

Officers from the EMPD’s Equestrian Unit recently arrested a 31-year-old male suspect in the Kempton Park area during routine law enforcement duties.

While patrolling along Jones Road, officers stopped a silver BMW 120i for inspection. Upon closer examination, they noticed the vehicle did not have front or rear number plates, and a single plate displayed in the windscreen did not match the vehicle’s licence disc.

The registration number did not match the vehicle’s license disc.

Further investigation revealed discrepancies indicating that the vehicle, registered in Botswana, had been fraudulently documented.

The driver, a Congolese national, was unable to produce a valid passport or any form of identification when requested by officers.

The suspect was immediately placed under arrest and detained at the Kempton Park Police Station. He faces charges of fraud and being an illegal immigrant and is expected to appear in the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court soon.
