EMPD arrests eight undocumented foreign nationals in Ekurhuleni

The individuals are facing charges under the Immigration Act after failing to provide valid identification documents.

The EMPD Specialised Services Unit apprehended eight undocumented foreign nationals between September 8 and 14.

EMPD media liaison officer Thabiso Makgato said the operation targeted hotspots to curb the presence of undocumented foreign nationals.

“While performing their law enforcement duties throughout the city, the arrested individuals could not provide satisfactory reasons for not possessing valid passports,” Makgato explained.

They were taken to various police stations, where immigration services were notified to verify their identification documents.

They face charges for contravening the Immigration Act.
