Two suspects arrested after shootout with police in Ester Park

One of the arrested suspects was wounded during the exchange of gunfire yesterday, October 24 and is receiving medical treatment.

Two suspects, aged 40 and 43, were arrested following a shootout with police in Esterpark on October 24.

According to Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Tintswalo Sibeko, officers attempted to stop a vehicle, but the suspects failed to comply.

“The suspects failed to stop when requested to do so by police, and a shootout ensued,” said Sibeko.

Three suspects managed to flee on foot, while police apprehended two others at the scene.

One of the arrested suspects was wounded during the exchange of gunfire and is currently receiving medical treatment under police guard.

Police have opened cases of attempted murder, possession of unlicensed firearms, and armed robbery. Investigations into the matter are continuing.
