62 suspects detained as Gauteng police recover hijacked cars, drugs and firearms

Police Emergency Services comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng arrested 62 suspects, recovered 36 motor vehicles and two firearms between November 7 and November 13.

Police Emergency Services, comprising Flying Squad, K9 Units and Highway Patrol members throughout Gauteng, arrested 62 suspects, and recovered 36 motor vehicles and two firearms between November 7 and 13.

Members participated in various concentrated operations, vehicle check points, secure escorts and intensive patrols around Gauteng, which led to 31 arrests for serious crimes including assault common and GBH, possession of stolen property, malicious damage to property, house robbery, theft, possession of unwrought precious metal, rape, fraud, contempt of court, illegal immigrants and armed robbery.

A total of 36 hijacked and stolen motor vehicles were recovered with seven arrests for the possession of these vehicles.
Two unlicensed firearm were recovered with one arrest.

In further policing, 23 arrests were made for the possession of and dealing in drugs.

Heroine, dagga, cat (cocaine), Mandrax and crystal methamphetamine were among those confiscated in these separate incidents.
