Flying Squad intercepts vehicles and makes drug-related arrests

Two suspects were arrested in separate incidents after Benoni Flying Squad members intercepted a speeding truck and later traced a drug-laden Audi in Midrand.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested two people and recovered a large quantity of drugs.

On November 26, members patrolling the corner of Heidelberg and Tom Jones roads in Benoni noticed an Isuzu truck speeding.

They pulled it over and immediately arrested the driver after finding three bags of compressed dagga, valued at R30 000, in the truck.

On November 27, the same members received information about a white Audi A6 near Ridge Road, Midrand, with a suspect transporting drugs.

They traced and intercepted the car and arrested a foreign national after finding two containers with a white substance suspected to be crystal methamphetamine in the vehicle.

The man was detained at the Midrand SAPS, while the drugs, with an estimated street value of R100 000, were booked in as exhibits, and the vehicle was impounded.

Investigations continue in these cases.

The men will appear in local courts facing charges of possession and dealing in drugs.
