Traffic stop at OR Tambo leads to drug arrest

A traffic obstruction complaint at OR Tambo International Airport led to the arrest of a suspect after officers found suspected heroin.

EMPD officers stationed at OR Tambo International Airport (ORTIA) arrested a foreign national for possession and suspected dealing in illicit substances on January 31.

According to EMPD spokesperson Kelebogile Thepa, ORTIA Unit officers were patrolling the airport when they received a complaint from Sky Top Garage about a white Hyundai Grand i10 obstructing traffic.

“Officers approached the driver and requested him to move the vehicle off the roadway.”
