School safety operation in Thembisa uncovers drugs and weapons

Law enforcement officers searched learners at Masiqhakaze Secondary School and Jiyana Secondary School in Thembisa, confiscating dagga, vapes and dangerous weapons as part of ongoing efforts to create safer schools.

Officers from the EMPD Social Crime Prevention Unit conducted school searches at Masiqhakaze Secondary School and Jiyana Secondary School in Thembisa on February 18.

This was done in collaboration with the SAPS, Gauteng crime prevention wardens and the CPF.

The operation aimed to maintain order and discipline in the schools while preventing crime, violence and abuse on campus.

During the searches, the following items were confiscated:
• Two vapes
• Dangerous weapons
• Two game cards
• Three packs of dagga
• One Rizler
• One cigarette
• One grinder

EMPD emphasised that these types of operations are part of ongoing efforts to ensure a safe and secure learning environment for all learners in the region.
