Teacher’s rape case postponed to July pending forensic report

During his bail application on March 17, he denied the allegations and indicated his intention to plead not guilty.

An Ivory Park Secondary School maths teacher accused of rape appeared at the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on May 6, where his case was postponed to July 3. The postponement is pending a forensic report compiled by a social worker.

The accused is alleged to have raped a 17-year-old learner at the school on December 25, 2025.

During his bail application on March 17, he denied the allegations and indicated his intention to plead not guilty. He also told the court that he is fully cooperating with the investigating officer.

In his affidavit, he further stated that he would not attempt to contact the complainant, witnesses, or the complainant’s guardian, and maintained that he does not pose a danger to the community.

The State informed the court that the complainant does not oppose bail.

Bail was granted on strict conditions, which include that the accused may not directly or indirectly contact the complainant, her family, or any witnesses. He is also prohibited from coming within 50 metres of the school. Any breach of these conditions will result in his arrest.

The accused remains out on bail and is expected to return to the Kempton Park Magistrate’s Court on July 3.
