Police recover stolen fencing and illegal drugs in series of arrests

The suspects will appear in the local Magistrate’s Courts facing charges of possession of and dealing in drugs and possession of stolen goods.

Benoni Flying Squad members arrested eight suspects and recovered drugs between April 26 and May 1.
On May 27, at around 10:00, members patrolling in Harpur Avenue, Benoni, received information from Gauteng Traffic Wardens that two suspects were at a scrapyard in the same street attempting to sell suspected stolen goods.

On entering, they were shown two suspects attempting to sell palisade fencing, allegedly stolen. While busy on the scene, the owner of the fencing arrived on the scene and confirmed that the goods had been stolen.

The suspects, aged 30 and 35 years, were immediately arrested.

After further investigation on the scene, two more suspects were arrested on the premises, with crystal methamphetamine and Mandrax being recovered.

On the same day, a suspect was arrested for alleged theft of gold-bearing material at a mining company in Modderbee Road, Rynsoord and detained at Benoni SAPS.

Three suspects aged 26 to 37 years were arrested for drug-related offences in Strandloper Street, Rabie Ridge, as well as in Pascoe and Oak Streets, Kempton Park.

Crystal methamphetamine, nyaope (heroine) and Mandrax were recovered in these separate incidents.

Investigation continues in these cases.
